Doctrine: The Second Coming
The Second Coming: I believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus (Matthew 24:30; Acts 1:11). The Bible teaches us that in the “twinkling of an
eye” (1 Corinthians 15:52), the last trumpet will sound (1 Thessalonians 4:16),
and “we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them (who
have died) in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be
with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:17). The Second Coming of Christ is known as
the "blessed hope" that all believers have in Jesus (Titus 2:13), and
it has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of each believer (2
Corinthians 5:10-11).
At His Second Coming (Matthew 24:30; 25:31: Revelation 19:11-21), He will separate His people known as "the sheep" (Matthew 25:31-40), from those who did not yield to His authority in this life, known as "the goats" (Matthew 25:41-46). It is at this point in time that believers will be perfected and spend eternity with Christ (Matthew 25:34; Philippians 3:20-21), and those who reject Him will spend eternity apart from Christ in the Lake of Fire (Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:15).
