How to have the best Christmas ever!

Image
Well here we are again, halfway through the craziest month of the year, quite possibly overwhelmed with people to see, places to go, presents to buy, and projects to complete, all of which when added to our normal day-to-day pressures, can quickly become a major obstacle for us in our pursuit of joy. It's easy for us to sing Joy to the World  all season long, but do we really believe it? And more importantly, do we really experience it? It seems like we do more rushing around the Christmas tree, trying to create the best Christmas ever for our families and friends, but in reality, there is nothing we can do to make the Christmas experience better, except to slow down, and put our attentions upon the One whose life we are supposed to be celebrating. Please join us tomorrow morning at Bible Fellowship Church, so that you can put the Christmas Chaos on pause, before you end up missing the entire reason for this season. Do you have issues with your daddy?

Depending upon your upbringing, and what type of influence your parents had upon your life (especially your father), it can dramatically affect the way you view your relationship with our Father in Heaven. Psychologists call this psychological phenomenon, "transference". Transference occurs when a person applies feelings toward, or expectations of, another person onto someone else (i.e. a therapist, or teacher, etc.), or in the case of a Christian, transference can often occur with our Heavenly Father, which unfortunately, if your relationship with your earthly father was negative, those feelings and lack of trust can quite possibly be transferred over to your relationship with your Heavenly Father.  Please join us this Sunday at Bible Fellowship Church, or watch our Live Stream online, in order to receive a biblical perspective on God's Fatherhood to you, so that you can begin tearing down any barriers between you and your Father in Heaven, and gain a clear understa

Church History / The Gutenberg Press

Image
I love church history, and one of the tremendous blessings I was able to experience while on a missions trip to Germany this past summer, was to visit the Gutenberg Press monument in Frankfurt. There is not enough we can say about how God has used Johannes Gutenberg to enlighten humanity, and absolutely transform the course of human history because of his printing press invention. The information contained in Books have helped advance almost every facet of knowledge known to humanity. No book of course, has impacted the human race as much as the Bible. In fact, did you know that there is no other book that has ever been written that even comes close to being printed as much as the Bible? In fact, all 9 other books on the top 10 most published books in human history (which include John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress, and John Foxe's Foxe's Book of Martyrs, along with the Qur'an, and the Book of Mormon), don't add up to even half of the Bible's publicat

Remembering Haddon Robinson

Image
Today heaven's gain, is Christianity's loss, as Haddon Robinson went home to be with Jesus at age 86. Haddon Robinson is one of my heroes of the faith who truly led the way in the area of expositional preaching, with his book, Biblical Preaching: The development and delivery of expository messages.   This book is a must read for anyone who desires to truly teach the Word of God in a way that not only explains the text at hand, but drives it home into the hearts of his audience. You can read more about Haddon Robinson in the following tribute from Christianity Today .

Germany Missions Trip 2017

Image
Below, are the missions updates our team sent back to the US, while we were serving Jesus in Frankfurt, Germany from June 21-29. Greetings friends and family, Friday, June 23 was our first day in Germany as a complete team of 6. Before we set off for the day, Pastor Jason led a devotion in the beautiful cool of the morning in the back garden. This is the Garden we did our morning Devotions from each day. We talked about abiding in Jesus and how God grows us to be beautiful and useful for his purposes, each in his or her own way.   Next, we set off to meet the Pastors and leaders of Mosaik Kirche (Mosaic Church)  in Frankfurt. Senior Pastor  Stephen Beck (below) is the man God used to begin Mosaik Kirche, and Mission Mosaik (which is a network of pastors throughout Germany, who all share the same vision to reach the Muslim people groups, along with people from all nations).  (Pastors Jason, Stephen Beck, and Safi) In addition to meeti

Was Jesus only a Myth?

Image
I was recently contacted by an atheist on YouTube who believes that Jesus was only a myth. Here is his statement, and my answer to his question: YouTube atheist claims: “Too bad there wasn’t a single contemporary that ever mentioned Jesus. Truth is not threatened by questions, but myth stumbles upon the rocks of evidence.” Dear YouTube atheist, To claim “there wasn’t a single contemporary that ever mentioned Jesus” is a very unacquainted statement that contradicts a massive amount of verifiable historical and archeological evidence that even the most passionate Atheist does not refute. The following list are contemporaries of Jesus' apostles: 1. The Jewish historian Josephus (who was not a Christian) referred to Jesus twice in his writings (Jewish Antiquities 18.3.3; Jewish Antiquities 20:9.1). 2. Plinius Secundus (Pliny the Younger) the governor of Bithynia in Asia Minor, wrote in his circa AD 112 to the Roman emperor Trajan about Jesus being real.
