are you spiritually dry of late?

Are you a professing Christian who is feeling spiritually dry today? Being spiritually dry or barren is a condition that God never intended for His kids to live in, and yet every one of us have found ourselves in that state at one point or another in our journey with God.

Below are 10 guaranteed ways to keep yourself in the land of the spiritually barren.

1. Not putting God first in your life (Matthew 6:33)
2. Not walking in faith (Hebrews 11:6)
3. Not Storing up Treasure in Heaven (Matthew 6:19-21)
4. Not following the Word of God (John 14:21)
5. Not pursuing personal holiness (Hebrews 12:14b)
6. Not pursuing peace with everyone (Hebrews 12:14a)
7. Not forgiving others (Matthew 5:23-24)
8. Not obeying the Greatest Commandment (Matthew 22:37-38)
9. Not obeying the New Commandment (John 13:34-35)
10. Not fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).

When we are not making our relationship with God the most important part of our life, we will become spiritually dry and barren (Psalm 63:1). We are choosing to be like a person who is traveling through the barren desert with an endless supply of water at our disposal, and yet we refuse to drink it. God is like our own personal water station. He wants to fill the depths of our empty and barren hearts with the Living Water from above (Jeremiah 31:9), so we can walk through life being refreshed, filled, and empowered by His Spirit at all times.

We know that the very thing that is lacking in our lives is the Living Water that Jesus offers to us (John 4:10). We know that it is by coming to Jesus and filling ourselves up with Him (John 7:37), being cleansed by the Word of God (John 15:3), and consumed by the Spirit of God (John 7:38), that we are able to spiritually thrive, and fruitfully accomplish the work of God in our lives.

When we choose to put God first in our lives, He will fill us with an overflowing of His life giving spiritual water. When we choose not to put God first in our lives, we are guaranteed to remain spiritually barren (Jeremiah 17:13). Let’s choose to be filled and refreshed today by putting God first in every part of our life.
