Memorize a Book of the Bible

This past Sunday at Church, I threw out a big challenge for Bible Fellowship Church. The challenge for the church is to memorize an entire book of the Bible! Are you up for this challenge? What will it benefit you to commit the kind of time and energy that it will take to memorize an entire book of the Bible?

 Here are some of the benefits you will receive:
  • You will draw closer to God 
  • You will gain a deeper understanding of God's Word
  • You will be given the opportunity to overcome the sin that may have you in bondage
  • You will be given the opportunity to overcome depression
  • You will be given the opportunity to overcome discouragement
These are just some of the benefits that you will receive if you choose to accept this challenge. The reason you will be given he power to overcome sin, depression, discouragement, and many other forms of bondage that we all have to deal with in life, is because if you choose to memorize a book of the Bible, it is going to take enormous commitment on your part. 

You will have to work on memorizing your book every day, in the morning, in the afternoon, and in the evening, if you want to succeed with this goal. And if you commit to doing this, your mind will constantly be focusing on God's Word, as opposed to the things that shipwreck your faith. 

So, are you up for this life-changing challenge? If so, make sure to touch base with me and give me a progress report, as I would be very encouraged by it, and I will respond by praying for you to reach this incredible and rare achievement!

What is godless chatter? The term godless chatter is used by the apostle Paul when he exhorts Timothy to, “Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have wandered away from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some” (2 Timothy 2:16-18, NIV). In context, this passage of Scripture is dealing with the godless chatter of false teachers who were sneaking into the church and trying to corrupt the truth of God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:14-3:9). Knowing Jesus and Making Jesus Known The primary vision behind the Christian faith can be simplified down to the following statement; "to KNOW Jesus and to make Jesus KNOWN."  Knowing Jesus and Making Jesus Known, that’s really what our Christian faith is all about.  The verse that has inspired the first part of this this saying “ to KNOW JESUS and to make Him Known”, is found in Philippians 3:10, which illustrates the apostle Paul’s heart for wanting to know Jesus more and more through pressing on daily in his relationship with Him. Paul tells us in Philippians 3:10, “that I may KNOW Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.”  This was Paul’s greatest desire in life, to become more like Jesus... by being conformed into His image, and the only way that this could take place was if he continued growing in his relationship with Jesus. He practiced in the woods, but he could never hit his target.
