Knowing Jesus and Making Jesus Known

Knowing Jesus and Making Jesus Known

The primary vision behind the Christian faith can be simplified down to the following statement; "to KNOW Jesus and to make Jesus KNOWN." Knowing Jesus and Making Jesus Known, that’s really what our Christian faith is all about. The verse that has inspired the first part of this this saying “to KNOW JESUS and to make Him Known”, is found in Philippians 3:10, which illustrates the apostle Paul’s heart for wanting to know Jesus more and more through pressing on daily in his relationship with Him.

Paul tells us in Philippians 3:10, “that I may KNOW Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.” This was Paul’s greatest desire in life, to become more like Jesus... by being conformed into His image, and the only way that this could take place was if he continued growing in his relationship with Jesus.

In fact, Paul would continue on in Philippians 3, by saying, “Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me His own.”

Here we read that Paul confesses to us that he is not perfect, he is still a work in process, but even though he has not arrived yet spiritually (like every single one of us, except for Jesus) Paul presses on to “make it his own”.

In other words, Paul is saying, I am not perfect guys. I still blow it. I still make mistakes. But I have without question taken ownership of my faith.

How do we "own" our faith?

We own our faith by allowing "Christ Jesus" to "own" us!

Just as Paul said, “I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me His own.” They way we own our faith is by allowing Jesus to own us! This is the only way that we will ever be able to own our faith, is by allowing Jesus to own us! And taking ownership of your faith by allowing Jesus to own you, is the only way that you will ever Know Jesus, and be effective in making Jesus Known to others.

Taking ownership of your faith, means you will be the decision maker of your own spiritual journey, where you determine in your heart to allow the Word of God to be your guide and compass through life.

Until a person is at that place in life with Jesus, it will be difficult to experience God moving in and through your life. But once a person is at this place in life, everything changes, life becomes 3 Dimensional; where loving God, loving one another, and serving the world for the purpose of reaching them for Jesus becomes your mission in life, and is what fuels the passion within your heart to keep pressing on for the goal of your upward calling in Christ.

The result of KNOWING Jesus, will naturally be manifested through your deep desire to want to make Jesus KNOWN to others.

I pray that you will allow Jesus to take ownership of your life, because there is no other way that you can take ownership of your faith until you allow Jesus to own you. When that happens, you will know Jesus and be able to make Jesus known!
