Has the Bible been changed?

How do we know that the Bible has not been changed from what was originally written?

The way we can be confident that the Bible has not been changed from what was originally written is due to the fact that there is ample evidence that the Bible has been accurately protected throughout the ages to its original writings.
  • There are over 5700 Greek manuscripts from the New Testament alone, which still exist today
  • There are also over 19,000 non-Greek manuscripts, for a total of 25,000 plus manuscripts in all languages!
  • There are fragments that date no more than 30 years past Christ life on earth. 

That is amazing considering the apostles didn’t sit down and write the New Testament the moment Jesus ascended into heaven, because they were too busy turning the world upside down (cf. Acts 17:6).
  • Another amazing fact about the New Testament is that it has more manuscript support than any book of ancient history, including Homer, Plato, Aristotle, and Caesar. 
  • There is also the unarguable evidence proving that the Bible has been preserved throughout the centuries thanks to the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls back in 1947, which really gave great support for the Old Testament.
  • There were over 100,000 fragments that were discovered in the caves of Qumran. Within those fragments were over 200 Biblical manuscripts, which were more than a thousand years older than any previously known copies of the Hebrew Bible. What was amazing about the Dead Sea Scrolls is that they found that the only differences that could be found were variations involving the spelling of words, but no variation that affected Biblical doctrines. 

It is for these reasons that we can be confident in the accuracy and integrity of the Bible. However, if these proofs are not enough, we can rest with peace in the knowledge that Jesus said, “For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled” (Matthew 5:18).

What is godless chatter? The term godless chatter is used by the apostle Paul when he exhorts Timothy to, “Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have wandered away from the truth.
