A Bar of Soap that truly Cleans...

The Bible tells us in 1st John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

This verse is known as the Christian Bar of Soap. It’s not a bar of soap that has Ivory or Dove on it. It’s not a bar of soap that says, “sin all you want, because this is the soap of Liberty”.

It is a bar of soap that says, “if you have faith in Jesus Christ. If you are practicing the truth” (1 John 1:6), “if you are trying your best to walk in the light (1 John 1:7) and trying to love God and love others” (1 John 3:18-19), you can clean yourself off with this soap. It is the bar of soap that says, “Anytime the sin nature that is within you begins to take over, anytime that you start wandering away from the light and traveling back into darkness, this bar of soap is here for you to grab hold of and to cleanse you of your sins so that God can bring you back into a right relationship with Him.”

When we begin wandering away from the light and Jesus, this is what God has given to us so that we can remain in the light anytime we blow it. Because even as Christians who walk in the light we will blow it. Whether it is in word or thought or deed, we will blow it. But when we confess our sins to God, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. The way that we remain in the light with Jesus, even though we are still sinners, is by confessing our sins to God, and walking in the light.
