How would you have answered this man?

This past week my wife Lyndsey took one of our cars to get a smog check. It's one of those cars that should have a bumper sticker on it that reads, "Don't laugh, at least it's paid for!" Fortunately for us, it's not only paid for, but it also passed the test!

Our little green car was not the only thing that passed the test today. God also gave Lyndsey a test, and she passed it with flying colors as well. The test Lyndsey had to take while at the Smog Check shop, was that God led her to share the gospel with one of the men who worked there.

While she was witnessing to this man, he expressed to her that he believed "All Religions Lead to God". Lyndsey responded to this statement by saying, "Does it really make sense to you that all religions lead to God? Think about it for a moment. If you went to Buddha's grave, you would find Buddha's bones wouldn't you?" He said, "Yes." Lyndsey then said, "If you went to Jesus' tomb, you wouldn't find anything because He has Risen from the dead (which proves that He alone is God, and has the answers for eternity). No matter what all of the millions of people who practice other religions think, there is no other way to get to heaven except through Jesus. Jesus says that He alone is 'the way, the truth, and the life and that no one can come to the Father except through Him', and the Bible also says that Jesus is 'the only Mediator between man and God.'"

After sharing her faith with him, he revealed to Lyndsey that God has placed other Christians into his life as well, which is an encouragement to me that she was watering the seeds that others have laid before her.

I have to tell you, I was so blessed to hear about how my wife was living out her faith, by witnessing to this man who was lost. I don't think that anything brings me quite as much joy as knowing that my wife is not ashamed of the gospel (Romans 1:16), and is ready and available to be used by God in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2), and even during Smog Check season.

Another thing that blessed me about Lyndsey sharing her faith, is that she did so using the Word of God, and by pointing out that Jesus is the only way to heaven. It's not up to us to save a person, that's God's business. We are only called to be faithful and to present the gospel to them. It is the gospel that has the power to save a person (Romans 1:16), and that is why we have to be faithful to boldly share it with others. The Bible also says, "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God" (Romans 10:17), which means that using God's Word when we share our faith is an important aspect in our effectiveness in helping a person to come to faith in Jesus.

I hope that Lyndsey's faithfulness to share her faith, will encourage you to be more proactive in sharing the gospel with those that God places in your life as well. I know I am encouraged!

Can you please do me a favor, let me know how you would have responded to that man's statement that "All Religions lead to God" in the comments section. I would love to find other creative ways to approach this subject.
