What Rewards are you Reaping?

This past Sunday, the third Life-Application we looked at is there are No Shortcuts Allowed if we want to Reap REWARDS for Living out the faith (Galatians 6:7-15).

The idea behind this section of Scripture is sowing and reaping into the things of God through the Spirit (Galatians 6:9-10), as opposed to doing it through the efforts of the flesh (Galatians 6:7-8), which is works-based religion, and exactly what the Judiazers were promoting (6:11-13).

Paul would use this last part of Galatians 6, to give a final warning to the Galatians not to be deceived, as he does not want them to be led astray by these leaders of false religion.

The Judiazers were trying to lead the Galatians into spiritual bondage by deceiving them into believing that circumcision, and keeping the rest of the ceremonial and moral laws of the Old Covenant must be done in order for them to be saved.

And therefore, Paul exhorts and warns them to be on guard, so that they are not "deceived" (Galatians 6:7), and ultimately end up losing their reward (Galatians 9-10), by following the false religion of these Judiazers (Galatians 6:12-13), which is filled with dead works, and leads to spiritual corruption (Galatians 6:7-8).

PAUSE - STUDY - REFLECT

Read Galatians 3:1-7, and also Philippians 3:1-21, in order to get a fuller picture of this issue that the churches had to deal with back then.

How does Paul describe these Judiazers in Philippians 3:2?

What are these Judiazers attempting to do to the believers according to Galatians 3:1?

How can we protect ourselves from this works-based, self-righteous form of religion, according to Galatians 6:14-16?
